The precise origins of the rosary in the Catholic faith are unclear but we do know that it was already being used in the 12th century when Saint Bernard played a part in encouraging its adoption. Under his influence, Christians began to venerate the Virgin Mary, opening themselves up to contemplation of the beauty of the face of Christ and the joy of His profound love.
